Apple has made a great, inexpensive audiophile-ish Dongle-DAC... For Android!
Okay, let's get some things out of the way first: If you don't use a special music player app on Android like USB Audio Player Pro, HiBy Music, or Neutron Player, get ready for low volume. If you prefer a less balanced, bass-heavy sound with less definition, get a regular Samsung USB-C Headset Jack Adapter. With that being said, it's time for the review! Equipment used for testing: -Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G (USB-C 3.2, USB On-The-Go) -Moondrop Aria -Status Audio CB-1 -Tripowin TC-01 -Soundcore Life Q30 (Wired mode, balanced EQ) I decided to try this adapter because I saw many people praising it, even though it's not originally designed for Android. So, lo and behold: My first impression when I got the box was that the unit was nicely packaged. I confirmed when I unboxed the unit. Having the unit in my hands was quite bizarre, since the USB-C male port and the 3.5mm female jack feel quite nice, with glossy plastic. On the other hand, the cable itself feels flimsy and like it'll break if I'm a little rough with the unit. Connecting it to my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and without using any app, I get a good amount of volume, not enough for some, but okay enough to listen to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, or any other music streaming service you prefer in a nice, quiet environment. Again, go for the Samsung USB-C Headset Jack Adapter if you want to make your ears bleed. If you really want to make this adapter shine, use USB Audio Player Pro, HiBy Music, Neutron Music, or another Android music player app that bypasses Android's sound source. It can get plenty loud with minimal distortion if you have some good earphones, earbuds, in-ear monitors, or headphones. You can also use 16/24bit and 44.1/48kHz (with USB Audio Player Pro you can get bit-perfect sound output as long as you have files with those bit rates and resolutions. Anything else will be resampled). The sound is quite clean and neutral/flat. Don't expect a huge bass, but a tight, detailed one. The mids are upfront and you'll be in a little heaven if you listen to some vocal-driven music. The high frequencies aren't harsh or piercing. They do feel good enough without being super detailed. I'd say that the sound from this unit is definitely enjoyable; a little bit analytical but not bright, and you can definitely appreciate any music genre you throw at it. The instrument separation is very good, not amazing but very good. Imaging is quite okay, above your phone for sure. The soundstage feels not so wide, but it still feels a little open. There's no perceptible hiss, which is something great, compared to the Samsung USB-C Headset Jack Adapter. The latter one has a quite noticeable background noise. And now, the reason I give it five stars: $8.28. That's how much I paid for such a nice Dongle-DAC. There are other options out there, like the Xumee USB-C to 3.5 mm Adapter and the CX31993, but they're around $13.00 and $16.00 respectively. For $9.00 approx., this is an easy recommendation for any music lover and starter audiophile who uses Android (especially if you listen to well-produced music).

I have a drawer full of these USB-C to headphone adapters already, but I purchased this one to use with my Apple Earpods as it will work correctly with the in-line remote. Compared to my many other such adapters, this one is the most sleek and compact but the wire is also VERY thin. The plugs on both ends are made of a hard, shiny plastic rather than the soft-touch plastic that's a bit more typical. Build quality overall seems fairly cheap. The DAC built into this device is fine to my ears and it supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling rates with bit depths of 16 or 24-bits per sample. This is consistent with other similar adapters I own.

The thing about USB-C headphone adapters is that in general most of them will work on any phone or computer - whether you should buy one designed for Apple products or for Android depends not on which phone/tablet/computer it's being used with but rather which standard of inline controls your headphones use. When I use headphones that are designed for apple products, the inline controls work fine whether connected to an Apple device, Android, Windows, or a game console. Likewise, when I use headphones that are marketed as being for Android, the audio works perfectly fine (both speakers and mic) but the inline volume controls do not. If your headphones have inline controls and are intended to be Android compatible, this adapter will get you audio but will not support your inline controls, so keep that in mind. Because of the inconsistency in compatibility with volume controls, this gets 3 stars in that particular category - it's either going to work flawlessly or not at all depending on the headphones, so a score right in the middle seemed appropriate there.

Overall, this is a perfectly acceptable adapter. The build quality and the robustness of materials don't inspire confidence that it will last for years to come, but it does exactly what it is meant to, and if you have a set of headphones designed for Apple products, this is what you need to make their controls work, even on an Android. In fact, even if your Android has a headphone jack built-in, this MAY be worth picking up just to gain access to the volume controls that would otherwise be incompatibility.

These work amazing and have 0 noticeable static when using with my phone or computer. My only issue is that it defaults super loud and even really quiet volumes can sound a little loud. It's also not the most durable feeling part but I've been told that it's quite durable. Definitely the best USBC to AUX in this price range though, especially for IEMS

I'm giving this 4 stars because it sounds amazing, is well priced, and even works on Windows. Technically it will work on Android but it's a pain and sometimes doesn't work in all apps, even with workarounds. It would be a 5* if the build quality wasn't typically Apple cable tier. Cable is super thin and feels like it's going to fall apart at any touch. Still easy to recommend because it sounds so good.

Excelente qualidade, super recomendo.

Very glad I purchased this one over alternative options..! (I had tried a variety of other ones previously from physical stores, and had always had issues with static, sound balancing, and durability..- perhaps it was just the brands, but regardless, I am glad I resorted to Amazon once I remembered Apple made one.)

It works just as one would expect, fits snugly within the charge port of my IPhone 15, and the audio quality matches that of whichever wired headphones you pair it with. (In my case, my JBL ones.)

I haven’t had a single instance of any static, even when rotating it, and the cable itself seems to be pretty durable despite its small and lightweight design. (Keep in mind, I make an conscious effort not to bend it, and have re-enforced the exterior with tape, but even without my precautions I believe it would still hold up quite well..!)

Overall, I would recommend this if you are contemplating which to get..!
