Capture the True Sound of Your Source

The Neat Microphones King Bee II large-diaphragm condenser microphone is a stellar solution for capturing vocals and instruments with exceptional detail and accuracy. With Class A circuitry, the King Bee II refrains from adding noise to your tracks. For the versatility you need, this large-diaphragm microphone has been designed to give you absolute transparency. What you hear from the source is what the King Bee II captures, which makes it ideal for everything from vocals and drums to more harmonically complex instruments such as woodwinds and strings. Accompanied by a complement of essential recording accessories, the King Bee II from Neat Microphones is sure to be your new go-to large-diaphragm condenser mic.

Class A circuitry provides balanced sound for any source

By using discrete Class A circuitry, the King Bee II offers the high output and the wide frequency response that gives you an accurate and detailed recording. A detailed midrange comes in handy to really bring vocals forward in your mix, or pull the warmth out of brass and higher-pitched stringed instruments. A velvety-dense low end and crystal-clear presence capture the fullness of sound from acoustic guitars while giving you the definition you need from percussion instruments.

Diaphragm designed for versatility and response

Sweetwater’s recordists know that a quality large-diaphragm condenser mic is a studio essential. The King Bee II’s precision-engineered diaphragm gives you an accurate, detailed response no matter what source you’re recording with it. The gold-sputtered capsule lets you enjoy clear, natural sound, and a broad frequency response gives you a full-sounding track to mix with.

Essential studio tools you need — included!

Your King Bee II large-diaphragm condenser microphone comes with a full accessory package to ensure you have all you need to get the best sound possible. Included are the Honeycomb pop filter to keep plosives out of your recordings and the Beekeeper shockmount to minimize the transfer of vibration through the mic stand protecting your tracks from undesireable low-end noises.

Neat Microphones King Bee II Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone Features:

  • Large diaphragm and Class A electronics for a full, clear response
  • External Honeycomb pop filter simply snaps on to mic for plosive protection
  • Beekeeper shockmount prevents transfer of low-end frequencies into your recordings

Great Mic and Customer Service

At this price range I don't think the King Bee II or its predecessor the King Bee can be beat. I get a gorgeous, transparent, and noise free recording when put through a Focusrite ISA One, and as an amateur musician I don't think I'll need another mic for a very long time. Moreover I was pleasantly surprised at the customer service I received from Neat when I broke it's shock mount by my own doing (the shock mount itself, like the mic, is quite hefty). After being asked to email a picture they immediately shipped me a new one no questions asked, didn't even charge for shipping. I can really appreciate a company that puts their customers first and stands behind their products.

Love this mic

It is great for close miking.

It is also great in a noisy environment because it rejects most off axis sounds.

Used it and the earlier version of it a lot for recording Native American Style flute and drums.

One of the best LDCs under $

This microphone is pretty stellar for the price with only a few drawbacks. It has a smooth, but bright treble response, flat midrange, and robust but not overpowering low end. The shock mount is beefy and strong. There is also pop filter included. After testing it for a day or so, here are my thoughts.

Pros:
-Gorgeous sound, with a smooth, and airy top end; warm low end; and clear midrange.
-Shock mount and pop filter included.
-VERY low noise. Even through my Behringer UMC404HD interface, there is no hiss at all.
-Nice proximity effect
-Sleek, more professional look than the earlier version.
-Decent build quality (very beefy metal housing and frame), internal components are not Neumann top notch, but are well assembled and obviously work great (extremely low self-noise)
-More standard shock mount attachment (threads around jack)
-Sounds AMAZING on acoustic guitar, vocals, and spoken word.
-According to various videos, slightly smoother top end than the version 1 of the King Bee

Cons:
-Shock mount is very resonant if you tap on the inner part of the shock mount.
-Shock mount could be more effective at reducing bumps of the stand.
-Pop filter colors tone a bit and could be more effective.
-Pop filter is very hard to remove, it feels like I'm about to break the mic when I try to take it off
-This thing is massive. It also weighs around 2lbs.
-I guess it makes sense at this price point, but no storage/carrying case included
Music background: Been playing piano, guitar, bass, and mandolin for over 10 years.

King Bee 2

Very nice microphone, well made, great price. You still may need a pop filter.
