Small System, Large Audience, Abundant Opportunities

The significance of streaming can’t be overstated. With new forms of content accessible from a myriad of devices, it’s crucial to maintain a high standard when it comes to your audio. Raise the bar with the Yamaha AG06 Mk2, a revamped 6-channel mixer that is a master of multiplicities designed to accommodate streams for gaming, webcasting, live music, and so much more. This robust mixer aims to pair flexibility with opportunity, boasting 24-bit/192kHz audio quality, USB connectivity, onboard DSP effects, and loopback functionality. The Mk2 introduces a 1/8-inch, 4-pole mini I/O to enable a variety of streaming options, a mute button, and a swath of improvements to the build, design, internal circuitry, and overall performance — all to ensure optimized, intuitive control with no sacrifice in quality. Pick up a Yamaha AG06 Mk2 at Sweetwater today!

High-quality input options

The AG06 Mk2 maintains a sleek design. Inputs and outputs are grouped across the top, making sure your controls are free from clutter. Two multi-purpose jacks support XLR-type and phone (balanced or unbalanced) inputs. The second channel features a dedicated guitar switch, allowing you to toggle between guitar and line-level inputs, as well as a line switch, giving you the option to attenuate the input sound. A third channel, with dedicated left- and right channel-inputs, lets you run the left channel for monaural instruments, alongside left and right RCA inputs. Furthermore, this mixer natively supports iOS to incorporate apps such as Zoom, Skype, Teams, and FaceTime — all from your device.

Precision control with onboard DSP FX

Keeping your levels dialed in is paramount to a good stream, and the AG06 Mk2 is big on options. You're armed with LEDs for visual feedback, monitoring for peaks, channel muting, and built-in phantom power inputs, designed for use with condenser mics. Reverb, mute, and comp/EQ functions comprise the onboard DSP effects. The second channel also features an amp simulator, alongside dedicated channel controls and gain adjustment. The 3-way selector further democratizes your stream control, with options for dry channel 1–2, input mix, and loopback — the latter enabling the simultaneous incorporation of music or background audio from your laptop or iOS device, with your live inputs.

Offline versatility

Due to the AG06 Mk2’s class compliance connectivity, iOS incorporation opens up numerous options for getting even more out of your mixer. This includes compatibility with Cubasis LE, a multi-touch sequencer app and pared-down version of the Cubase DAW. Additionally, the AG DSP Controller app provides more refined control of the onboard options, with a “1-touch” easy mode and an expert mode. Plus, the AG06 Mk2 comes with the Cubase AI DAW, allowing for a powerful, smooth avenue for producing high-quality recordings.

Exactly what I wanted

This is exactly what I was looking for home use. One Mic, One Guitar, Keyboard, Turntable/CD and iPad.
Very easy to setup if you have the correct cables. Controls are easy to work and understand.
My cheap Sony turntable has a built-in preamp. Time to revisit my few hundred classic albums from the 1970's...
I am using Heil 5" 24watt powered speakers from my Amateur Radio setup.
Downloadable software for iPhone and iPad.
Fender Stratocaster sounded good considering the small speakers I have.

No BT but I knew that when I bought it.

Podcast Essential

If you're looking to up your game in the Podcast arena, get this module. The level knobs are not on an exponential scale and they're tighter than normal. So they won't move if accidentally bumped. All of the routing works a treat. The preamps are better than most.

Also, if you're a professional VO, this would make either a good main interface or a great "stunt kit" interface.

Solid little mixer!

I have been using one of these as my main audio interface in my home office for months now and love it. It has plenty of inputs for the wide variety of devices I use regularly and pretty useful software to control the onboard DSP, panning, etc.

I did mod mine to add a direct CH1 out so that I can take phone calls on it. One more mix layer assignable through the app would have been nice to avoid the need to get the soldering iron out, but I know that everyone has pointed to every device on this website and thought "if it just had one more X it would be perfect..."

I am a little confused with regard to the controller app about why it can't read the state from the console. Any time I switch computers and open the controller, it resets the settings to the last used state from the new computer. That is a little quirky, but not the end of the world to me.

All in all, this thing rocks, looks great on my desk, is reliable and predictable, and sounds great. What more could you want from a tiny mixer?

Favorite Portable mixer with Audio Interface for Basic Volume Mixing and Ease of Use

I had the Yamaha MG10FX, which had more features, but it was double the size and had a massive specialty power supply cable (its biggest flaw). I also had the Behringer Flow8, which on paper is great & the closest competition to this AG06.. but I tried 3 different units and all 3 had clicks & pops in the USB recordings with multiple devices EXCEPT when using the PC/MAC driver (which is a problem if you're using other USB devices).
First, the AG06 is fully powered by one USB cable. I'm powering mine with a Maschine+ and also using it as an External Audio Interface. Could do the same with an MPC, phone/tablet, or of course a computer.
AG06 is actually 8 channel, if you count the AUX and don't need any volume controls on it. Just put your loudest source (Line Level, Keyboard, etc.) in AUX and trim your others on the other 6 channels. It also mixes the stereo USB audio input from what you have plugged in (PC, Tablet, Phone, Maschine, MPC, etc.). I appreciate the mute buttons on the first 2 channels. Of course it would be nice to have that on all the channels, but I can just turn the volume down (other than AUX)
It outputs to the Headphones and Monitors (both adjustable volume). It has a second stereo monitor output that outputs at full volume, which is useful for going to a secondary device (recording, a videocamera, front of house mixer, etc.)
The mixer also outputs to the USB device one of 3 selectable ways: Just channels 1 and 2 (dry, post-gain); the full mix (other than the USB device's own output) including Aux In; or Loopback (the full mix AND the USB device's own output).
If there's any question, Yamaha has an accurate Block Diagram on their AG06 mk2 website under downloads.
This is hands down the simplest, most portable way to mix the levels of 6 to 8 channels with 2 stereo outputs (not separate buses, just separate levels) and a 2/2 Audio Interface built-in. It's wonderful for people who are just trying to mix their unaltered sounds together from multiple sources and capture some recordings cleanly.. and portability/size/cost is important to them. It can't touch something like the larger 12+ channel mixers with all of the EQ, Panning, Muting, FX, and level indicators... but that would make this twice as large, defeating the purpose and the simplicity.

Best for the cost

Yes this is worth the extra money. This has all the same features as its competitors, give or take a few, but what makes the Yamaha worth it? This is the perfect all in one desktop device for pc users. I mostly use this for gaming, recording vocals, and mixing/mastering. The separate headphone volume knob and monitor volume knob are very handy. The mic preamp is crystal clear along with the built-in compression/eq button, which stays always on for me! It's a simple "bring your mic to life" button that's easily tweakable from the app. The headphone jack produces crazy clear sound. Clearer and cleaner than what I upgraded from. The foot switch can either control the reverb or the mute. I used a guitar amp channel switcher, which worked to mute my mic in my headset as well as turn on the mute indicator. However my friends could still hear me talking in game chat. However standard use of the mute button works only so that my friends can't hear me. AKA: The way it should function. So maybe try the official footswitch out? This thing functions really smoothly in a lot of ways and it really will be your final destination for any/all general PC use. It's way better than using a little box interface. If anything, this is a perfect sounding headphone amp and mic/ multi-instrument interface all in one for a great price. Don't go cheaper than this! This is a home run.The white pops on my desk too. Love this and I know it'll last forever.
